Please {Request} Background Image
« on: January 17, 2010, 05:41:46 PM »
   I don't have a program to do this and don't know how to do this and would appreciate if someone had the time to enlarge this image for me.

   I'm setting this image as the forum background of a theme i'm planning to use as the default theme. In it's present size (610x489), it covers less than half of the forum (wide) and only about a sixth the forum length.

   Again, if you can do this, that would be a great help.

                                                                  Thank You

     Thank You

  But still not big enough. I spent hours going through the search engines trying to figure out how to do this. The word i didn't use though was "expand" and i've found a few sites where i took your pic because the quality was still good and upsized it.  So right now i have it at 1400x825.

  Will this be fine or will it be too small for larger monitors and high resolutions?

                                                  Thanks Again

   Oh forgot to ask - how to i make the background static?

   Hope i'm not pushing my luck here but i have another image situation i'm pulling my hair out with  :shckd .

   The header image comes from "main_block.png" and i don't understand this image as it has different things on it. As you will see, it has a car on it that i need to remove and place this racing image where the car is - say a half inch gap(border) between the top, bottom and right side edge so it's centered on the right there. You can't tell from the main_block image but it is transparent(i like it). You can see that in the third image.

  I also need an image made of the transparent header image (no car, no race pic), just the dark transparent part as i want to use that as the color of parts of the boards and background of simple portal blocks.

    If this isn't asking too much, that would be awesome  :righton

The best way to achieve this is to obtain the main_block.psd from aED
 or offer to make a donation.

Oh yeah, sorry man, I haven't looked at the 2.0 themes yet, so I'm not sure exactly the "main_block.png" works.  I know it's supposed to save "weight" on the site.

Maybe this will be a good opportunity for me to finally check out Curve.  I might take a look tonight.

    I left him some questions in his theme thread 12 days ago and still no responses from him.

the main_block.png is one image and SMF calls different parts of it to use in different parts of the theme.

    Yes Bigguy - hard to understand how it does that. With the code below, the header area is controlled by all 3 of these to complete the header area. I managed to remove the car and image and replace with another. However, half of that nice header border was missing.

:
/* the framing graphics */
#header
{
   background: url(../images/theme/main_block.png) no-repeat 0 -240px;
   padding-left: 5px;
    min-width: 600px;
}
#headerbg
{
    background: url(../images/theme/main_block.png) no-repeat 0 -240px;
    padding-left: 30px;
    height: 60px;
    position: relative;
    top: -5px;
    left: -20px;

}
#header div.frame
{
   background: url(../images/theme/main_block.png) no-repeat 100% -240px;
   display: block;
   padding: 5px 5px 0 0px;

Ok, I've been reading up and looks like Curve uses something called CSS Sprites, especially to make css mouseover images perform better.  Here's a good read about CSS Sprites -
