Website modernization?
« on: December 24, 2009, 02:03:21 PM »
I am doing some preliminary research as to people who can make a web site for a business.  I am trying to make up a list and a preliminary cost range.

Right now the web site is a 1990 style one page and they are looking at modernizing it.  Something like:
1. Areas for product pictures and descriptions.
2. A simple tech forum for questions and answers that will repeat on twitter.
3. A place to buy some standard products.
4. Contact page.
5. A map with point and click rep locations that gives their address, phone and email.
6. Graphics will need to be updated and some new ones created.
7. A customer support section where logged in customers can download manuals and do a certification search for download.
8. Yada yada yada...

I am trying to get a list of names and their web sites (or examples) and ruff costs so I can forward the information on Jan 2, 2010. ???

You want to know what all that would cost. ??? Hmm. I could do most of that I think.

Yea just a ruff idea for now.  Of course the final cost will be based on the final game plan.  A PM is acceptable.   :)

It would be best to refer it to someone who has time. I will send a PM your way though.

Sure.  Nothing is going to happen until the new years anyways.

I could help do some of it too depending on the pay.

I'll try and rustle up some examples for you, but I'd probably charge 1500 at least.  Of course it depends on who it is and what their budget is vs. how bad you need the work that'll determine the end price.  But that's what I would want to charge.

I would probably use a CMS like Wordpress to build the backbone, buy a nice theme and then edit it from there.  Use smf as the forum and download center of course, and everything else is would be plugins or hand-coding.
