Please help me, new and old board problems.
« on: May 17, 2009, 05:01:35 PM »
We had a hacker get through and use the Flash Chat to turn my site into a mailer for spam and to collect bank data.
I've erased the damage he's done and the chat and now I'm getting 500 server errors I need someone to help me restore my forums.
The database should still be intact so I just need someone to help me who knows what they're doing. I have AIM/ MSN/ Yahoo / Google Talk/ TeamView so if someone could help me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Simple Machine 1.5 was the last time I checked.
Website url: www.the-omnitrix.com/forums/
500 Errors
I need someone who can go into my computer with me (via Teamview or something) and go into the site's FTP and help me delete whatever I dont need, but keep the forum posts.

My staff and I are debating just starting it from scratch
Could someone help me atleast setup a new board?

Can someone atleast help us get the user information? Something like Profile Names & Emails so we can contact the members to tell them whats going on? And maybe even post count so if we do have to start over I can just start us off where we left off and maybe install a replacement SMF board?

I've never installed one, and the last person who did it was a friend who I haven't seen since he left for college...

You should install SMF 1.1.8 as it addressed alot of security issues. From seeing what you encountered, you can export the members table via phpMyAdmin, and install the new forum and import the members table into the new forum.

Also in the future, if you have mods installed, be sure to uninstall the mod first before deleting its files, especially Flash Chat, since it has db information that goes with it.

Okay, um... What is phpMyAdmin? Is it through 1&1? Or SMF? I can't get onto the site to even access that, and I found out my site has a code injected into it (a lot of people on the main smf site have complained about this) and I haven't got anything availiable except FTP and access to the files via 1&1. Is there any way we could talk on messenger?

EDIT: My friends and I are willing to do a clean install if you can be our guide (or recommend someone) as to how to remove the old files (unless its just deleting them from the FTP) and keep our users? They also are wondering if we are able to um keep post counts?

EDIT 2: I found PHP my admin and I found the members, but I don't know how to back it up?

It will help in terms of prevention but I don't know how to actually FIX the forum. I want to do a clean instal, but keep the members, the posts, and the banlists (if the posts aren't possible I'll understand, but the Banlists are kinda important)

If you keep the Attachments folder and the two Settings.php files and wipe everything else out and re-upload all the files again from the install zip (Excluding the Settings.php and the Attachments folder) you should have all clean files and still the same database with all your attachments. If you have mods installed you might get errors on them because they would not be installed anymore but the info for them will be in the database.

I wish this would have been kept before I ugh... <_>...
I deleted the entire forum directory I think...
The board works, but I'm not sure if its actually adding it to the database or just editing the index file?
How would I go about checking if the database was configured correctly with the site?

Database Error: INSERT command denied to user 'dbo247338766'@'74.208.16.199' for table 'smf_omnitrixlog_online'
File: /homepages/24/d247338417/htdocs/forums/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 2545

Is what came up, I didn't think my database was configured correctly, I have access to it but how do I configure it correctly?

are you trying to re insert your sql file theomnitrix??

where are you seeing these errors?

if you did this:

If you keep the Attachments folder and the two Settings.php files and wipe everything else out and re-upload all the files again from the install zip (Excluding the Settings.php and the Attachments folder) you should have all clean files and still the same database with all your attachments. If you have mods installed you might get errors on them because they would not be installed anymore but the info for them will be in the database.

you should be fine and not have to touch the db itself..

did you read this too:

Since the hacker took over my website I had to spend all day with my host's fraud prevention team to prove that I was not a hacker, spammer, or phisher.

So, my site is unlocked again, but upon looking at the database, I think that it was hacked too because in the last 2 weeks over 400 megs of files we're uploaded. (Its obvious the hacker got here.)

Is there any way for me to back up just the: Forums, Posts (Topics), and Members? so when I do a clean instal of 1.8 that I'll be able to keep that but everything else get re-made?
