permissions help
«
on:
April 23, 2009, 04:54:25 PM »
Hi all!!!
My permissions on the board are messed up. I am supposing a mod did it, but, I had no idea to watch for anything like this so I never watched for, and could not begin to say which mod did it.
The bottom line: guests can not read the boards at all, even though permissions are set for them to read the boards.
Can I reinstall the board software to fix the permissions and NOT mess up all the posts that are there? I have a 1.1.8 upgrade on top of 1.1.7.
Or is there a page where I can go in and fix some code??
Thanks for any help at all.
Peg

Features and Options -> Allow guests to view the forums.
Make sure that's checked.

Yup,
Allow guests to browse the forum = it is now, and has been checked.
Thanks for the tip though.

Permissions are all kept in the database. Have you done all forum maintenance.
Also have you checked phpmyadmin to see if the database has any crashed tables or other problems.

I have done all maintenance from within the forum... looked for errors, etc.
I have not looked for crashed tables. Not sure I'd know one if I saw one. But, I will log in and see what I can see.
Thank you.. I'll be back to let you know what I see.

Not that I'm any database expert, but I Found nothing wrong.
I ran the maintenance from phpMyAdmin side. From that it said everything was ok.
I found the permissions table, but can't seem to recognize the which place to look for the permission for the guests to see the boards (to be sure that it's right in the database).
Poo! LOL, Peg

When making a board you have the option to allow only certain member groups into that board. Is this what you are looking for.
