did this get sorted oldcrow??
Yes..it is sorted.. I followed the Instructions and the upgrade went completely off course. I ended up loosing the entire program..
Bigguy came to my rescue... I had a few conversations with Bigguy. He is an OK guy in my books... To make it short I ended up buying a IPB board, at least I know what I'm doing there. I'll try the SMF board later, because I do like the New SMF Version of 2.0.
I don't want to degrade anyone here or on the SMF Support Group, but I find the members are not all that helpful. Theres a lot of people who set up forums with SMF and no little or absolutely nothing about making changes or upgrades or installing Mod.'s.. But we try and learn, some succeed and some fail..
SMF Groups need members who are willing to get involved in helping people with problems, more than just linking them to a Post with instructions, not everyone can follow these instructions, as I did and I blew the works. These Databases are complicated enough as it is. If you know nothing about doing the work in there, well its at a lost, and you'll end up ruining the works.. Once its done, theres no reversing the problem..Its final....
I was Willing to allow a Trusted Member of SMF Support to enter my cPanel and Forum to help make the changes. And I would suspect other would also. Maybe you can set something like this up with some knowledgeable members who are willing to help people with no knowledge.. It sure would be nice and a big help..But this is only my suggestion..
I have a couple of Trusted members of my other forum, who I allow into the cPanel to install Mod.'s and programs..
Thanks for your concern. And keep up the good work..
Ron..
