[SMF 1.1.X HELP] News Banner using SMF 1.1.10
« on: August 03, 2009, 06:03:25 PM »
I am an administrator on 3 Corfu based travel forums all using SMF 1.1.10  On 2 of them the news banner runs as it should. On the 3rd, I have been into the admin center and selected NEWS.  I have made a test entry and it then shows in the right hand box when I preview it. When I tick the required box and hit save, nothing happens and nothing shows on the forum. I have checked settings on all 3 forums and they seem to be identical.  HELP PLEASE  :hlp

The first question you will be asked is are there any Mods and are they the same on all 3 forums?   ???

Next list the mods and provide a link to the affected forum so the guys can see what you are talking about.

These guys are some of the best and if they can't help you no one can!  :)

All 3 forums have,
SMF 1.0.16 / 1.1.8 Update
SMF 1.0.17 / 1.1.9 / 2.0 RC1 Update
SMF 1.0.18 / 1.1.10 /2.0 RC1-2  Update
Installed on each

One working forum has no other SMF Updates downloaded.

Another working forum has,
SMF 1.0.14 /1.1.6 Update
SMF 1.1.2 Update Package
SMF 1.0.11 / 1.1.3 Update
SMF 1.0.13 /1.1.5 /2.0 b3.1 Update
SMF 1.0.15 /1.1.7
Downloaded

The non working forum has.
SMF 1.0.13 /1.1.5 /2.0 b3.1 Update
Downloaded

I am just a forum user not a tech head. All other installed packages on the 3 forums should have no effect on this current problem being cosmetic ones.

Ok,

Do you have any themes installed that might be different on each of the websites? If so, which ones..

It is possible that some of the updates could be conflicting with eachother as well. You can honestly only run a few updates over eachother before doing a full overhaul.

All 3 forums are usung the same theme, Orangeline by Crisp. Is it possible that a reload on the defective forum would cure the fault?

Hmm, not sure what the problem is. But reloading the forum might solve the problem. When overwriting SMF files to reload the forum, just do NOT remove Settings.php, or Settings_bak.php and feel free to remove the install.php and install.sql files.

Thanks very mich for your help. I will pass on all information to the site owner and let him deal with it. As I said I am only a site user, what I know that I am unable to do, I leave to those that can.
