Though installatioin of SMF is described in another topic I can tell you some things
to do before installation, to modify your forum and install light.

 

For example - you can delete every other theme besides default theme in Themes folder. You can delete classic smileys, since they suck. You can replace old avatars
with yours which you can get on livejournal - 100x100.

Additionally, you can even replace default theme with some other theme, by replacing theme files and images. Basically - with SMF you can do whatever you want.

I am not even sure if this is too good. Modifying the Default Theme is bad and normally when people want to make changes to the Default Theme, they make a copy and then modify the copy.

please dont think we are coming down hard on you diamed, but in honesty, thats really not good advise..

do take the time to explore smf, and the many different things you can use it for.. before you start giving advise on it.. i would hate for a new person to screw up their site due to mis information.. and its been known to happen..

and always backup your site before anything.
