ad_mod_1-1-1_v2-3 Theme Issue
« on: September 12, 2008, 12:57:03 PM »
Hi,

This mod (ad_mod_1-1-1_v2-3) seems very good and I had no problem installing and using it on the default 1.1.5 theme, but I'm trying to install it on "RengliTheme" and I'm having no luck.  Could you please tell me what I need to edit exactly.  I'm no programmer so I really need basic instructions. I understand that I only have to edit 4 files (I think).  But I'm having trouble finding where those files are because for example there are multiple uses of <td/> etc...

This is a very new site www.Regain.name and it only has a few mods:

Mod Name Version
1. Wrapper Mod 0.1
2. Ad Managment 2.3
3. Blog (for 1.1.5) 1.11 (downloaded but no longer installed)
4. RateThatTopic

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi,

You need to use a Pakage Parser (click to use) in order to find the instructions to install the mod to work on your theme. Follow these instructions:

1.) Upload the Ad Management Mod Zip file to the package parser.
2.) Select your SMF Version
3.) Choose Install
4.) Choose Only Theme edits

Find the index.template.php for the RengliTheme and edit everything it tells you to edit for the index.template.php only. Then, save the file and upload it back up. Please backup the original index.template.php before making any edits!

You may also want to read this: http://www.smfhelper.info/forum/index.php/topic,2287.0.html

I would've posted the SMFHelper package parser, but the versions are not up-to-date.

Is the index.template.php file the only template file out of the four that needs to be edited in the Rengli Theme. ???

I'm lost now.  I followed all the instructions and I got the following error. I'm also having trouble reverting to anything other than the default theme.  What should I do now?
Template Parse Error! There was a problem loading the /Themes/renglitheme_v1/index.template.php template or language file. Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with a slash (). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.

You may want to try to refresh this page or use the default them.
syntax error, unexpected T_CLASS, expecting ',' or ';'

Use the backup of the file that I told you to take. ;)

Please backup the original index.template.php before making any edits!

I was able to recover the theme, I had a backup ready, but I'm still not sure how to get the ads mod to work on that theme.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.
